What is the hunt
for a silent killer?
Elevated blood pressure
High blood pressure, i.e. arterial hypertension, has been the main risk factor for cardiovascular, cerebrovascular and renal disease and mortality for decades, which is why it is called the number 1 killer.
Arterial hypertension is the most common disease today and its prevalence is unfortunately on the rise, and because of its vileness that does not cause disturbances for a long time, it is called the Silent Killer.
The curse of arterial hypertension is that it can be prevented because it is mostly the result of an unhealthy lifestyle.
The curse of arterial hypertension lies in the fact that it is preventable, as it is largely a consequence of an unhealthy lifestyle.
Goals
The Croatian Society of Hypertension and the Croatian Hypertension League, along with their partners, have launched the Hunt for the Silent Killer campaign with the goal of raising awareness about hypertension, highlighting risk factors, and inviting everyone – all professional societies, citizen associations, and the entire population – to join us. Only together can we reduce the prevalence of hypertension in the general population and improve the control of treated hypertensive patients.
Activities
The hunt for the Silent Killer is already underway.
As part of the EH-UH 2 project and the Hunt for the Silent Killer project, blood pressure values were measured for a large number of our fellow citizens and all risk factors were determined, and we organized a series of educations for professionals and the general public.
